Parting is such sweet sorrow....

So I have been reading the book S.uperfoods and trying to educate myself on eating a more balanced diet.

All of a sudden, I read this:

Remember that all donuts, to my knowledge, have the so-called trans fats, which is another way of saying partially hydrogenated oils. There is no safe amount of trans fats. Even small amounts have an adverse effect on our health. They are even worse than saturated fat, which also can have significant adverse effects on many body functions.

Alright people. That hit home for me cause you know I love a good donut. MMMMMmmmm donut. Yes, me and Homer Simpson. ALL donuts are bad. WOW. What about the mutli-grain donut at Starbucks? LOL

Okay, okay....if I can walk away from red meat and pork...I can leave the small donut behind right? **starts sweating** I mean, you heard the man....they're ALL BAD for me? They are defeating the running and eating healthier. What? My eye is twitching? Oh....I'll be okay.....it's just this small thing that happens when I think about giving up donuts forever.

**sigh**

Girl.. I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS FOR YOU.. but you will be able to do it...

when I gave up sweets.. the first 14 days i thought I was gone DIE.. but after the 30 days.. I was FINE.. it didn't KILL ME.. I now can indulge on occasion and not trip.. all I need sometimes is just a bite and the satisfaction is there.. and I don't WANT to finish the entire donut, cake, etc..

Try TastyKake. Way better than Krispy Kreme.

You're in TastyKake capital.

Great, I am about to have a donut right now. I have one every morning with my coffee. I have come to the conclusion that almost EVERYTHING is bad for you so I am gonna have just a little bit of "bad for you" in my life. Everything in moderation, right? I don't smoke, I don't drink (except socially) and I eat mostly chicken. It is on a rare occassion that I eat beef and pork (again, in moderation). So, I think that entitles me to this donut. Did that sound like a good argument (lol).

LOL....you damn Krispy Kreme heathens.

Drea...I am like you. Every morning I have one donut with my cup of coffee. That caffeine and sugar combo is what keeps me on my "A" game. *sigh*

I am gonna have to find a new drug.

I used to love a good doughnut too. But, I had to cut them out the diet too. Like bklyn diva said, after 30 days without something it gets a lot better. It's been 10 years since I've eaten pork or red meat. I keep telling myself I'm going to give up all meat and try vegetarianism but can't lay off the chicken yet.

Anyway, it's good that you're educating yourself so you can be healthier.

[Scratch becoming a cop off my list]

Hang in there. It seems as though we are all going through a sort of wake-up call on our not-so-young lives. Let's still meet up at Starbucks for that latte and virtual multi-grain donut.

Why you had to go ruin a good healthy-sounding donut thing I will never know? ~LOL~

I soooooooo feel you! I need to see if I can find this spoken word piece that this dude did as a dedication to Krispy Kreme on Def Poetry Jam (the broadway version that toured a couple years back). It was hee-larious! And you'd love it, I know, just as much as I did.

Honey just hang in there. They just banned trans fats from all restaurants in Philly and it's only a matter of time before you'll see a "Now Trans Fat Free" banner across the door at Dunkin Doughnuts lol. I give it another three four months!

I don't know how people manage to eat donuts. The glazed ones are so sweet they hurt my teeth. The regular ones are so dry they stick to the roof of my mouth.

Hmm. I know you can. But do you really WANT to? It seems like such a small thing in the scheme of addictions. No?

I mean, meat and pork are one thing. But the donuts, chica?!!!!

Instead of giving stuff up I am trying to add stuff to reward myself. If I eat 5 fruits and vegetables in a day I will allow myself a caramel machiatto. If I eat my Kashi cereal every day for a week I get a caramel machiatto. If I eat no carbs for dinner then I get a...I think you get the point ;-)

Gurl, I feel you... Because I really really want a personal size deep dish supreme right now ((sigh))

But try to switch to some protein in the morning... no not that!!!! I mean bagel with cream cheese,or an egg sausage biscuit, or yogurt with granola. Protein in the morning makes your metabolism rev up for the rest of the day. Gurl, hang in there! Be Strong!
