Get behind me turkey!

Hope everyone had a great Holiday. I really did cook up a storm. I love the holiday but I am so over turkey at this point, I don't know what to do with myself.

I have to give props to this man. I baked four of his pies and they were all that and a bag of skittles. Heck, even his team is currently playing like they have some sense while mine is dropping off the face of the earth. You Da Man G.

So I guess as new homeowners, we have alot to learn. I was outside yesterday and realized that almost two thirds of my block has their house already decorated for the Holidays. Did we miss a memo? We are not even in December yet? And what is up with those $200 snowglobes that everyone puts out on their lawn? **sigh** Does anyone truly need a 6 foot snowglobe?

I saw one house with a snowglobe AND an inflated snowman. Isn't that overkill? Sometimes, you can go TOO FAR.

I love Christmas, don't get me wrong but just remember that Jesus is the reason for the season okay people?

That being said....I am off to start some online shopping for the boys. The less time I have to spend in a store, the better.

It must be some unwritten rule that right after you finish eating turkey, put the tree up! I see lights everywhere and mine are still in the shed.

I went outside this morning and saw that my neighbor already has the brightly lit metal reindeer posed all nicely on his front lawn... Goodness!

Let's not even talk about the snowglobes...

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving...

I'm seeing decorations all over the neighborhood too. I may put my tree up this weekend. I'm not really into the commercialism of Christmas. If I didn't have kids I would probably ignore it all together.

If you want to see Christmas decoration overkill, take a drive up to Long Island. They really don't care about their January electric bill out there.

When you're childless and get a certain age the Holidays take on a whole 'nother meaning'

but anywhoo...

I'm sure there will be a post soon about people with their Xmas decor still up on the eve of Valentines Day Puahahahaha!

1nine6nine!
miss you.

That's funny. I have seen houses that were decorated BEFORE Thanksgiving! WTF! I always that it was tradition to put up decorations AFTER Thankgiving, but I guess to each it's own.

You are not slacking, you can have your own tradition. You sound like a leader, not a follower so do yours when your family decides to do it.

I am gonna put the lights outside while it's 60 degrees here in MD but I probably won't plug them up til later in December.

LOL Girl, you are funny. I typically do my decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. As far as outdoor decorations, I'm a fan of white lights. Definitely not a fan of tacky lawn ornaments. My old landlord had one of those God-awful mobile reindeer and plastic, lighted Santas. *rolling eyes* Don't you know we had so much snow that year that the reindeer's neck rusted and got stuck in the down position. So the head only jerked up an inch and back down - lookin like it was tryinna give head or some sh*t. *shaking head*

we are all behind schedule on my block in the Bronx due to unseasonably warm weather. I am shocked that December is here. My neighbors usually put everything up on Black Friday but they missed the memo too.
Haven't seen those globes.

i've only had one christmas tree in my life and it was about ten years ago. it was soo much effort i think it stayed up until valentines day when my then boyfriend told me it was a fire hazard.

never again....the most i do is Christmas Eve with my family for Gumbo and occasionally midnight mass with my Grandfather, which incidentally has been moved up to 10pm (WTF)

I only shop on Christmas Eve and Christmas songs drive me crazy!
