A Public Service Announcement
I am taking a minute to address people that leave anonymous comments on my blog.
When I started this blog, I never thought for a minute that anyone would care about my life, my experiences or my writing. It seems that along the way, I have made several friends, and many of you stop by on a consistent basis. I am flattered that you would even spend a moment of your time here. So thank you.
However, while I do enjoy everyone's feedback, agreeable or disagreeable, please note that I share a lot of my daily life here. I talk about my family, my job, my friends and me. I do not feel comfortable getting anonymous comments, especially when they only seem to come when someone is trying to be negative under the cloak of anonynymity. We are all grown ups here and trust me, I love a good debate and have no problem taking criticism, feedback or comments. Just be respectful and leave your name.
When you come here and leave comments without a name, I feel uneasy sharing so much of myself with you , allowing you to disect it all, but you are allowed to hide.
If anonymous comments continue, the blog will have to go private, by invite only, in an effort to protect my privacy. Besides, trust me when I say that I am highly computer savvy and have your ip addresses stored just in case. I already know who you are.
Feel free to comment, all I'm asking is be an adult and leave your name. Hell you can make up a name if it makes you feel better. If you can't do that, the posting freedom I enjoy will most definitely be restricted.

yeah i had some crazy anonymous people early in the lbog and shut down anonymous comments. i stopped short of comment moderation so people could talk amongst themselves should i not approve the comments. do what you gotta. just make sure i get an invite if you take it private!

I have come across your blog by way of Always Funky Fresh by way of eclectik-relaxation and I wish I had an interesting life to share with you and the other bloggers but I really appreciate you allowing me into your world and get a different perspective on things.

Delurking Day....good idea.
However, most anonymous comments tend to come from regular readers who use their names every other day and co-sign what you are saying and high five you. When they want to write something negative, they post it as anonymous. *sigh* I just don't get it. I am now going to approve comments for awhile and see how that goes.

Too unfortunate that you have to make this PSA. I also dislike anonymous comments, although I don't get too many of them. But I know I have LOTS of lurkers. I think de-lurking day is an excellent idea.

I don't blog (as you know), but I have noticed that whenever the comments are negative or offensive they are posted anonymously. PUNKS!
When you got a jacked up azz anon comment...just search for the IP addy match among your comments. Then you can see who lost their dang minds that day.

Monnie...you know I love you like beans and rice right? :) I am already on that. However, the main thing is that I have eliminated the anonymous comments.
Although I feel the same way as you, you are probably preaching to the chior.

just read your post about the anonymous comments and that you might go private. I really don't want that to happen, you have a wonderful site and you allowed me to open up and share what was going on in my life. Believe me, that was a major step for me. However, I know you have to do what's best for you...but if you have to go private...please invite me....smile. Have a wonderful day
Some of those anonymous people just want attention and they'll be negative if that's what works for them to get it. At first when I got stuff like that I would cuss them out. Later I just deleted them. Now, I have disabled anonymous comments. Period.
I chose not to do comment moderation because I was never getting around to it.
Sometimes I even delete comments of people I know 'cause I figure it was temporary insanity and they would want me to destroy the evidence.
LMAO.. ok sorry I'm just getting round here.. you know I had my WELLNESS DAY yesterday..
but errrr.. you already shut down the anonymous joints SO THAT WILL HELP.. and the comment moderation definitely comes in handy!!!!

Not a fan of anonymous comments either. Especially when people do it just to say something negative.
I've been having the same problem as of late. It got to the point where I had to let the authorities know. I found out who the person was, but there is no need for this kind of mess.
I've had one, maybe two anonymous comments. Both good. But I don't understand the need to hide.

I found your blog during the summer of 2006, while I was recovering from neurosurgery. I can definitely say that your blog and a host of others helped me get through last summer, as well as, provided me with some great laughs. It saddens me to hear that folks aren't adult enough to handle leaving comments. I just wanted to let you know to keep up the good job, and I hope the anonymous commentors don't deter you from keeping your blog open.

Ya know, I really don't know how I ended here a year or so ago. However, I've always enjoyed your entries and have made comments when the spirit hit me.
I used to literally stop by every day for about 3-4 mos, but then the new job came along and my 'leisure' time got cut back severely. Thus, I don't have as much free time as I used to in the past to read, let alone post my own entries. But yours is one that is bookmarked for me to glance at when I have the opportunity.
With the NFL season right around the corner, I still remember the ones on the blog circuit who are not fans of my Cowboys. So to your NY football Midgets, I say... see ya on opening night Sept. 9 in Dallas and on Nov. 11 in NY.
If ya wanna bet my sweet potato pies vs something from your Caribbean cuisine selections, just lemme know... lol
