1969 is sick (and tired)

Taliban 2 is sick. He is dripping with mucous. His eyes are crusty. He can't sleep. I have been up at 3am every morning for the last four days. He came home from school looking terrible on Friday. I stayed up all night with him and he gave he lots of snotty kisses and hugs. I kissed him right back.

After coughing all night, Mr. 1969 stayed home today and took him to the Doctor. The Doctor accused us of slacking and not bringing him in on time....DOUBLE ear infection. So go ahead, call 1-800-bad-mommy. I thought he just had a bad cold. Now I feel terrible.

In addition, now I am sick. Sore throat, chills....and I have deadlines to meet. So I am sitting here at work with a nice hot cup of tea with honey.
I hate being sick. The only good thing? No appetite. I haven't really eaten in two days. Just soup and tea and NY.QUIL.

Maybe I will lose a few pounds before the reunion? :)

Don't beat up on yourselves, you two are not bad parents!!
The first time I heard the Dr. tell me that my son had pneumonia, I damn near fainted. OMG, how could I let my 2 year old get pneumonia, I felt like I should have been brought up on child neglect charges. Well I didn't recognize the signs, because I didn't know the signs. Children and symptoms are tricky. It's hard to tell a cold from bronchitis, asthma from allergies. Once you know better, you do better. But unfortunately experience is the best teacher.

Hope you and Taliban feel better soon!!

I know the feeling. Sick child, been there done that, glad my kid is almost grown.

I know the going to work sick thing. I have learned deadlines won't matter much when you laid out and cannot function. Work will be there, your health is more important.

I was sick a couple weeks ago and lost my appetite and 3-4 pounds! I know it is wrong, but I was so excited. I figured something good should come out of being sick. Unfortunately, the pounds are making a comeback:( LOL take care and I hope you feel better!

I hope you feel better, girl! And I'm with Philly. Don't sweat the doctor. You just thought your kid had a cold. That's what it sounded like. Not like he was falling or losing his balance. He'll be fine after taking the meds. *huggs*

Yes! You went home. I am glad. Your body is telling you to rest. I only campaign for health over deadline cause I was so sick one time I was close to being hospitalized. I tried to tough it out at work and was not knocked down for the count with similar symptoms as yours. Then I came home with no one to help me and had to send my child away to her dad's family. I got so sick I was too tired to eat or drink and my fam/friends called me saying they would take me to the doctor regardless. I mean when grandma says she is coming over to wash and dress you, you take heed. I had to wash with a pan of water in my room because I could barely stand. It took me 30 minutes to get up the strength after I dressed to walk down the 17 stairs from the second floor to the car.

I may not take care of myself like I am supposed to, I do value taking it easy when my body says to slow down. It is scary knowing you are close to be gravely sick and dying.

Sorry for the long post. I just don't like seeing people push themselves for a job or whatever and jeopardize their health.

PS. I wanted to email this to you but your profile has no address. So take it easy and I will pray for you. I had a friend you left us 9 years ago to this day with flu-like symptoms, she was sick and told no one the real deal, she died at 26.
