Me but 20 years better!

So as I alluded to in an earlier post, my 20th high school reunion is basically four months away. Four months.

I fancy myself to be a strong minded individual, to rise above the crowd and think for myself. I am not swayed by popular opinion. Independent.

Okay, well bump all of that.....Mrs. 1969 wants to look FIERCE. I want folks to say.."Damn, she looks good." I could care less about the career (although I have that), the great husband and beautiful children (I have that), the nice home (still in renovation mode but, I can check that off my list too).....I want to look HOT.

Yes, it's shallow. Yes, it's reverting back to...well....High School behavior but damn it....I still need the validation. Okay?

I will need the perfect outfit (that looks effortless but actually took 4 months to plan). I need the perfect "oh these, I had these old things in the closet" shoes.

So if I act ridiculously crazy in the next few months, as I obsess about this event, please forgive me. I am allowed to be utterly shallow and selfish for one weekend.
Even Superwoman has flaws.

Shallow? Are you kidding. That what reunions are for! Cuz you KNOW no one will remember what you or your husband do for a living...but they WILL remember your shoes. :)

I'm with Dynasty . . . my 10 year high school reunion and 5 year college were both last spring. There weren't many of us from high school who were doing that well. I felt bad for some of them after I left.

BKDIVA...Brooklyn Tech, grew up in Crown Heights and Trinidad. We are not old, we are refined....LOL

Dynasty...my ten year was fun. We were all happy to just have jobs!

So Wise...EXACTLY. The shoes and the outfit are key! You feel me?

ON...yo man, I can't log on to your blog. I need a link!

I had NO desire to go to my reunions, but if I did, I know for a fact that I still look good. In fact, I look hella good and much better than in high school. Rumor has it that some/many of the so-called "hotties" from my class look a mess. I, on the other hand can bag 'em in their 20's. When you're refined, have taken care of yourself, and have a supporting good mental attitude, that will stand out above all. Have fun at your reunion.

I got fo' (not four) words for ya:

I.COMPLETELY.FEEL.YOU

My 20th is NEXT year and it seems like I am needing an overhaul because I INTEND to look and be fierce-as-fuck! Hmmph!

In high school I was soooo shy (though plenty of people knew me) but I am so different now (in a good way) and I can't be comin into the place looking any ole way!

I had NO desire to go to my 10th, but this 20th.....bay-beeeee.....watch out there nah!

I think I'm the only person who loves class reunions. I never had any real enemies so I kinda look forward to see what people have been up to. And since i went to an all girls school (Phila High School for Girls)the shallow side of me loves it when all us over 40 broads get together and somebody always says "girls how come you still skinny??" LOL

My ten year reunion was last September, but I live in a different city and could not attend. Not a huge loss. I hope you get it all together and I do not think looking hot will be too much of challenge for ya.

My 10 year reunion never happened thanks to Mr. Bin Laden. I skipped the 15 and will probably do the same for 20. But I understand your need to shock the world. Do you!

Barton (blah), Tech (blah), MIDWOOD IN THE HOUSE!!!!!

I am not mad at you! I purposely went to my 10yr reunion looking "ok" because I want to look fantastic at the next one. I went to a really close-knit high school, so the next is the 15. Go'head, girl!

see, that's why I won't even go to my 10-yr. Few friends, even fewer enemies, no accomplishments and this in a sea of overachievers. Oh s*** it's this year! Dag how did that sneak up on me?!

I missed my ten year reunion. But will probably go to my twentieth (next year).

PS: Most of what people talk about (job, house, kids, etc), go out the door by way of:

"Girl, look at her, she looks a mess"

AND

"Can you believe that was HIM?!? AND, I used to have a crush on him, too?"

So, you would, be correct in wanting to look hot, all the other stuff will go by the wayside, unfortunately.

PS: hehe. Your comments remind me of the movie 'Romy and Michelle's high school reunion'
