Red Beans and Rice Didn't Miss Her!

Okay so yesterday at lunch time, I ventured out to buy some pants. Since I am in the new gig, I no longer have to wear a suit everyday. I have crossed over into the Business Casual realm. This is great but I find that I have nothing that fits into this category.

So I get to the store to look for some pants. Now, 1969 is an average sized woman. I am 5'7 and wear a size ten in pants. Pretty normal. So at the store, I try on some slacks in a size ten. They fit but the thighs are too tight. I could wear them but my legs would look like sausage casings. NOT A GOOD LOOK.

So I go back out and see that the pants also come in a 10 curvy. Cut looser through the legs. I put them on and they fit perfectly. OH-KAY. So I guess I am now Curvy?

Then I decide to try some jeans on, I grab the size 10 Curvy, since that's obviously what I now must be wearing....I can't even button them.

What is going on with retailers? Why don't the same sizes fit in one store? What is with this "Curvy" fit? Are all pants now being cut for anorexics?

And don't get me started on who would even wear a size 0 skinny fit? WTF?

Can we bring back real clothes for real women? My self esteem is taking a beating.

As a woman with a shape relegated to stores like Lane Bryant, I feel you - just on a bigger scale, literally LOL. My rear and thighs are far larger than my waist, so all my slacks have gaps in the back. My boobs are huge so I have to wear bigger shirts to fit the chest, but then they're big in the stomach - making me look even fatter than I already am. This is the story of my life!

You know that I know where you're coming from with this. It's a nightmare shopping for pants, especially jeans.

Wow BZ has my life. Lol.

The cut of clothes is ridiculous. Have you ever tried the curvy jeans at the Gap?? So not curvy. At all.

Ladies...you are feeling me!

BZ..all of the waists are off. And these super low rise jeans? Who wears this stuff?

Erica...I hardly wear jeans anymore because they aren't comfortable.

MizJJ...that's exactly where I was yesterday. Those curvy jeans are NOT curvy at all.

OK I'm sorry I have to laugh first.. cause damn if I didn't get a FLASH BACK!!

Ok see we can't shop in normal stores because they don't make clothes for normal women like us!!!

I HATE going shopping and like you.. I don't wear a suit daily anymore like I used to so its hard going into the business casual world without spending a GRIP on clothing.. I paired my pants from my suits with sweater sets or a nice oxford button up and I may add cufflinks or something :) I DEFINE my business casual and THAT is casual for me :)

Now that I've lost more weight its even harder to find clothes because my waist has gotten smaller but it only makes my arse and thighs protrude more LOL

I tend to shop at Ann Taylor mostly now.. because I can wear a size 6/8 and feel FABULOUS knowing damn well if I was at the gap or old navy my arse is in a 12 LOL cause its cut so small!!! Curvy.. ain't nothing bout them clothes curvy..

Jeans.. I am still rocking my polo jeans from 1994.. and I WON'T give them up!!!!! I have YET to find a pair of AFFORDABLE jeans that fit me right..

note I said AFFORDABLE.. them PZI Jeans Dynasty put me onto are HOT AND FIT ME WELL.. but ain't no way in HELL I'm paying 90+ on some damn jeans that I may wear once a week!

oh and 0 skinny jeans don't even fit my skinny arse 13yr old daughter.. LOL she wears a size 3.. LOL

I was stuck in the middle. Wearing a 14/16 in regular misses can be too narrow in the waist and then in a women's 14/16 is too wide in the hips. LOL.

I got into Ashley Stewart' or Lane Bryant's and it can be hard to get a smaller size. Or got to a store with a variety of sizes, it is hard to find the bigger size. Sigh.

I used to be a stick. Some don't believe I wear the size I do. LOL. I camoluflage(sp?) well.

My child has your problem, she has to get pants bigger for the legs and then the waist is too big.

I have to try on everything. I wear an 8 dress, but can wear a 6 for a better fit around the boobs. I wear a 10 coat or jacket, cause I swear I have big shoulders. Size 8 pants, most of the time, but because I'm 5'9" they have to be at least 33" inseam or talls. Jeans can be a nightmare, cause I have a butt, but not much hips. Stretch jeans have been my salvation, but then they have to be a size 6 or they gap at the waist! jeez...
