Mind over Matter

I woke up on Sunday morning with a goal. It was 6am and I got dressed. I laced up the sneakers, slathered on some sunscreen and got in my car. I drove to East. F.alls and parked my car and from there I hit the ground running.

I ran alongside my favorite stretch of road in Philadelphia. I was determined to tackle "The Drive".

I love K.elly D.rive. The drive stretches all along the Sch.uyll.kil River and winds next to Boathouse Row and ultimately leads to the Art Museum (you know, where Rocky runs up the stairs). It is serene and peaceful and on this day....I decided to talk myself out of the "I Can't Do it" attitude and force myself to try.

My IPod was playing and I stopped thinking and just ran. Up to now, I had only run maybe two miles at best....and always on a treadmill at the gym.

On Sunday, I ended up doing a personal best for me....4 miles. I was utterly exhausted. But I felt great. Sometimes, I have to stop thinking so much. I think myself out of situations I can physically handle. I need to trust myself to just live. Just do it (as the sneaker giant says).

I need to just run.

While I was running...I could only hear BK, and Roycee telling me I could do it, not to give up. And then I could hear Fresh telling me to stop and go get some donuts and coffee and chill.

whoooooooo!! however, i try not to run. not even when being chased. i have done a few laps on the indoor track at the gym. esp. when i'm trying to show off like the other day when i saw this really cute guy. but i def. want to hit up the rocky steps and do the tourist crap to which i'm sure the workers growl and throw their cig butts at.

Good Job Sis! I knew you could do it. Next time you're in town we'll do my favorite run across the National Mall, past the WWII memorial, reflection pool, and the Lincoln...around the Tidal Basin, across the 14th street bridge, up to National Airport and back. About 10 miles total uh hunh!!! By then you should be ready...so bring your sneakers again and we'll conquer it together!

I attempted 6 miles on Sunday night and halfway starting get nauseous...UGH! I walked the last 3 *shrug* LOL!! We all have our bad days I guess.
