Age ain't nothing but a number

My 38th birthday is exactly one week from today. 38. Doesn't it sound great? Yes, I could be all woe is me.........BUT I FEEL GREAT.

I am in good shape and I think I look pretty good for an old lady too. Don't believe me? Here is a picture of me and my NEW Soror (she's fresh out of college) at last month's walkathon. It is about 7am and I have not a stitch of makeup on. Not that bad right?

Okay...if it IS bad, tell your girl, 1969 so I can take that mess down immediately! LMAO

I don't know why people are afraid to say how old they are. Everyone has to age. Everyone goes through changes. We slow down, gain some weight, get a few wrinkles....hell, with age comes wisdom though. You have lived. You have stories and experiences. You are now someone with something to talk about.

I enjoy getting older. I love knowing that I have made it another year. I have completed another tough one, but I am still standing. I refuse to look at it as anything but LIVING.

Perhaps this week, I will stroll down memory lane and share a few stories about me back in the day. You know, when I was a young buck. I may even have a few photos.

Stay tuned, true believers....stay tuned.

I am with ya 1969. I will be 37 in 29 days. I have no problem saying my age. Maybe because I look younger plus with soon to b 17 yr old hell folks don't believe I am her mother. LOL.

I never understood the hiding your age thing. I have saw folks even go as far as not putting a birthdate on a obituary. smh.

I know some right now fronting like she is under 40 when I know otherwise. LOL.

I may joke and say I'm thirty *cough* from time to time, but honestly with getting older, I find I enjoy the fact that I am still learning new things about myself and life in general and only getting better.

People complain about laugh lines, but to me, that means you've had a lot to smile about in your lifetime.

Great post. And you look fab.

Ms. Lee...girl, you should get a tshirt with your age on it, cause YOU LOOK GOOD. LOL

Uh Fresh....why are you counting backwards? Men can always tell their age. You guys get distinguished, remember? We get OLD.

i am convinced that the thirties are the bomb. I like 35 so much I may stay here for a while and you look fantastic!!

I do believe that allot of the beauty that comes with us maturing is in the confidence we carry, our stride, the way we hold our head up high and carry ourselves. Granted my waist line was allot smaller ten years ago but I wouldn't trade a day of these years I have under my belt!!

@Aunt Jackie: I am starting to believe the over 40 folks. The women I have heard say in your 40's you really let loose and love you. Yeah, I am just prepping myself mentally cause I have 3 more years of the 30's.

Not quite sure how I found your site but I had to comment because we have the same birthday. I read some of your archives and enjoyed every minute of it.

P.S. You look great but more importantly, you FEEL GREAT.

I think the pressure to lie about your age comes externally. I turned 29 this year and you should have heard people. Making stupid comments and asking if I was 22 or some such nonesense. Nope, I am not 22, nor do I want to be 22 ever again thank you very much.

You look good. Lord knows I would probably not even be up that early.

There you go looking like YOU'RE the one who just got out of college. Nice pic. If that's you at 7am, with no make up . . . I can only imagine . . .

**note to self** If you ever meet Mr. 1969, bow down.
